The House of Field Awards

I CARRY LOVE AND
I GIVE IT FREELY

Gempita R Ramadhani

Indonesia 9 years old

LOVE FOR ALL LIVING CREATURES, INCLUDING HUMANS AND ALL OF NATURE, IS A UNIVERSAL VALUE TAUGHT IN VARIOUS RELIGIONS AND PHILOSOPHIES. THIS INCLUDES MUTUAL CARE, RESPECT, AND COMPASSION, AS WELL AS AVOIDING HARMFUL ACTIONS.

Judge's Comment

I felt a strong sense of kindness in the artist’s imaginative use of color to reflect the beauty of nature, in the way the composition expands as if powered by the girl herself, and in the protective gesture of holding the animal close to her chest.
This piece feels very much in sync with the colorful and powerful world of House of Field—making it a wonderful fit for the House of Field Award.

Thermography

Momoko Anabuki

Kagawa, Japan 17 years old

"Kindness" is equated with "warmth," using body temperature as a metaphor.
The human hand possesses a mysterious power. When gently stroking an animal, it can feel the warmth. Just as the human hand gradually transmits heat to melt a cold heart, it conveys warmth. To make the process visible, the progression was illustrated with colors like a thermograph.

Judge's Comment

Through a thermography-inspired effect, the artist beautifully expresses kindness as warmth. The simplicity and clarity of the approach make the message all the more powerful.
I could easily imagine this piece hanging on the wall of Patricia Field’s boutique in downtown New York, which is why I chose it for the House of Field Award.
